Thinking about a planted tank
As many of you know, I really love Predatory Fish, and Cichlids, but I also love beautiful planted tanks. Tanks with many green lush plants and driftwood, rocks and pretty other fish. Well I think I might turn my Predatory Fish tank into a Planted tank. If I do this I will be getting rid of
- 2 Polypterus
- 3 Plecos
- 1 Kissing Gourami
- 1 Pike Cichlid
I will be keeping my
- African Brown Knife Fish
- 3 Severums
- 2 Convicts
- 2 Blood Parrot Cichlid
- 4 Australian Rainbow fish
- 1 Firemouth Cichlid
- 4 Corydoras Catfish
I would really like to add
- 15 Cardinal Tetras
- 10 Rasboras
- 10 Corydoras Catfish
- 5 Blue Gouramis
- 5 Hatchet Fish
- 3 Angelfish
Yes and I understand that it would be overstocked. None of the fish I am keeping eat feeder fish, so i think it will be safe to have them. The African Brown Knife Fish, are only 8 inches long and feeders, or tetras can't fit into their mouth. The Blood Parrot Cichlids are very peaceful! And my convicts would probably be very occupied and not bother the schooling fish. The Severums are "peaceful" south american cichlids, and I think they will be ok. My Firemouth, well my severums keep him under control. And so I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't think it would work out. I have made mistakes in keeping fish, and from my experience this should work.
For the way my tank should look well the gravel will be black to bring out the fish's colors, and there will be Baby Tears plants on the substrate. There will be alot of driftwood, and some South American Amazon River rocks. I will take any advice or sugestions. The tank size is 55 gallons.
