those little worms sound like bristle worms. i got a bunch from some recycled live rock i accuired from someone who was tearing down their tank. a local marine dealer i know told me they are not a problem and quite harmless. he has an outstanding reputation from any one have talked to, even other marine dealers recomended him to me. i think that says alot. he told me if they bother me there are fish that will prey on them. so far i think they just add more life to my little reef. hope that helps.
