Default Smartest FW Aquarium Fish?

Hey everyone,

In your opinion, which is the smartest freshwater aquarium fish that isn't extremely rare? I would say Oscars and Puffers.

I second Oscars and Puffers! Some Oscars will even let you pet them, and hand feed them. And you can actually see Puffers thinking.

I would have to say the same about my Lake Malawin auratus. He's always on the move eyeballing the other fish and looking for an advantage. I know sometimes he's thinking about something although with him it's probably nothing good.

even tho i have only had my cichlids for a couple of weeks you can see they are very clever, they come to the front of the tank and look straight at you, you can see they are sizing you up.they are very smart indeed.
