My cousin has a huge Oscar. The fish is in a large tank all by itself

At the same time each day, the fish bangs the lid on his tank. My cousin says that is the fish saying he's ready to eat.

Once he gets some brine shrimp, or whatever food is scheduled for that day, he's find, and stops banging.

Is this normal?
