I've been planning this out for months, and this is what I will be doing. I have 2 baby water turtles about half a dozen community fish, along with water plants from local ponds near my work. Right now they all sit inside a 10 gallon aquarium like happy little critters. My plan is to expand my happy little critters home into a complete Terrarium with two waterfalls, mini caves, ferns, mosses, water plants, and even a sound system with fake tropical noises (so I can sleep better at night). I've been searching some of the other projects on the net and get fascinated every time I see a complete project. I learned that plexieglass (aka acrylic) works wonderful in custom projects like this. I have seen several people talk about their experiences in making their own aquarium using adhesives and silicones to bind it together, but I plan on using a heat gun and elbo power on my project. I read a site where a guy used a welding torch to heat and flex his plexiglass into place and it didn't turn out one bit messy or ugly. My only question is if any of you have done this sorta thing, or ever wanted to try?
So far, I've purchased the plaster of paris for the waterfall, and finished one of the underwater caves using clay that I molded then baked in the oven to harden. As soon as I can finish the waterfall and get it set up with a pump, I'll start on making the tank. Wish me luck.
