Eight African Cichlids in a 25 gallon? That's too much, six would be the max, preferably five or four. They may be fine now, but once they mature the males will not have enough room to establish territories and the females won't have enough room to hide from aggressive males. I really suggest you return at least two, before you face any problems.

Good luck,
Matt

That sounds like a great plan, they should be fine in a 50 gallon
