BUILDING A 500 GALLON AQUARIUM WITH A COST BREAK DOWN - http://www.garf.org/news25p2.html#HUGE - Hits: 1942 I wanted to start this article by stating that I should have done this, years ago...years! I for 10 years have spent my weekends and evenings visiting all the pet stores in my area, and even some not so close. I travel some and vacation often as well. I do photography and it allows me to visit other cities. When I have the time I seek out local Aquariums and Fish stores. When I vacation it's to the Oceans of the world. I can usually be found face down snorkeling (I have never dove, although I intend to one day). Those are separate stories, and enough about me. - [Details] |

DIY - Plywood/Glass Aquarium - http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/diy_plywood_aquarium2.php - Hits: 602 I had very little experience building anything prior to attempting this type of project. I researched as much as I could find on the internet and through discussion groups. Once I felt I had all I needed, I jumped right in and tried to make my tank as fast as possible. (Hint: taking your time is best) One smart thing I did, was planning on building a small version of my tank first. The theory being, if it leaks, I won't have a ton or more of water on the floor. - [Details] |

It seems like a good idea and I cannot see any reason why it should not work, and save you some $. Notwithstanding, I share these plans with you with no express guarantee. If you attempt to build this aquarium you do so at your own risk and indemnify me of any responsibility. Good luck and have fun! - [Details] |

I have got to move and store a few large tanks prior to relocating. Looked at using the glass suction handles, but they still leave you with the dilema of what to place the base on to ensure it avoids point loads etc while being transported. So came up with these tank cradles to make lifting and moving tanks around a lot easier to do. - [Details] |
Glass Aquarium Repairs - http://saltaquarium.about.com/pets/saltaquarium/library/weekly/aa050200.htm - Hits: 67 couple downsides to having a glass aquarium is the potential for springing a leak and glass breakage to occur. You can figure out for yourself how breaks happen. For leaks, most are usually caused by a flaw or failure in the sealant, either generated during construction of the tank, or over time becomes weak and begins peeling away from the glass. This can lead to leaks of a small annoying pin hole size, up to and including a major seam blowout, like ones that result in an empty tank, a soaked carpet, and water leaking through the floor down into the basement. - [Details] |
