I made a homeade waterfall with plaster of paris and a pump I purchased from lowes. I also made a cave out of clay I bought at walmart with holes on the top, and two large holes on the sides to that I can run a air tube through it.
So far the waterfall needs to be painted and possibly sanded. Already I'm having plans on making a new waterfall, and already have two more boxes of plaster of paris sitting next to my desk. The key to this is making a good mold. To do that you need to get a box, and lay a combination of tin foil and wax paper. If any one else has found a better method, pls drop me a line. As for the cave goes, I just plug the air tube through the holes I made on the sides and the air goes upwards through the holes ontop of the cave roof. The cave was a rather fun project. I simply bought the clay, molded it to how I wanted it to look, and put in the oven for about an hour. After it was finished baking, it was hard just like a rock. It looks good, and serves it's purpose well.
As of now, I have my 5 gal set up for feeder fish. I bought two types of feeder shrimp (a combination of ghost, brine, and red claw) from walmart. For some odd reason I wanted to see if the shrimp would breed so I can cheaply make good turtle food without having to go back and forth to wallyworld every two weeks. Since my turtle(s) eat the shrimp and feeder fish as soon as they make eye contact, the food lasts very little time. Once again, I've been wanting to breed shrimp, and BINGO! I have a pregnant shrimp with about 8 eggs under her fins. I'm expecting them in a few days. Now the only problem is that I'm becomming attached to the fellas lol. feeder shrimp have a personality of a dog. They fight over fish food much like a dog fights over a bone. I've even seem them scrounge around desperatly looking for a spot to hide their tasty little fish pellets (which i'm guessing is made out of shrimp) I've also seen them pinch eachother in the rear with their tiny little claw, and it gives me and my friends sometimes short hours of cheap entertainment. So if any of you are thinking about raising your own bait, just buy around two dozen feeder shrimp, and let them do their thing If you got any questions email me at
